This document contains fundamental information about the status of Gigahertz Optik GmbH activities regarding the compliance of the RoHS guideline

 

The European Parliament and the Council passed the 2002/95/EC Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.  This EU-guideline has been made legal and intends to protect the environment.

Manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance to the appendix IA of the 2002/96/EG guideline, must ensure, that, from 1 July 2006, new electrical and electronic equipment put in the market does not contain lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). National measures restricting or prohibiting the use of these substances in electrical and electronic equipment which were adopted in line with Community legislation before the adoption of this Directive maybe maintained until 1 July 2006. This Directive does not apply to electrical and electronic equipment, which fall into the categories 8 and 9 in accordance to appendix IA or are put on the market before 1 July 2006.

 

We hereby guarantee, that products, developed and produced by Gigahertz Optik GmbH are not affected by the RoHS-guideline 2002/96/EG, due Gigahertz Optik electrical and electronic equipment fall in category 9 ( monitoring and control instruments), which do not fall in the scope of the RoHS- guideline in accordance to article 2, clause (1).

 

The classification of Gigahertz Optik products into category 9 (monitoring and control instruments) is being official accepted by the Gemeinsamen Stelle EAR in Germany. Our WEEE- registration number is: WEEE- Reg.- Nr. DE 68443133.

 

This classification apply as well for the national implementation in Germany, called Elektro- und Elektronikgerätegesetz (ElektroG)

Gigahertz-Optik regards this legislation, its implementation as well as compliance as an important component of its corporate activities as a mid-size global manufacturer.

For this reason Gigahertz Optik GmbH has decided to adapt its processes voluntarily and to check the conformity of is manufactured products.

 

Since we are not focused to the deadline of 1 July 2006 in accordance with the above mentioned situation, we will realize the compliance economically and technically appropriately.
