Founded at the turn of the year 1985/1986 with a clear vision,
the company has developed into a leading international provider of high-quality measurement solutions.
On our 40th anniversary, we look back on key milestones –
and at the same time set our sights firmly on the future.
Our Anniversary Video:
1985–1995: The Beginnings – Courage to Innovate
In December 1985, Gigahertz Optik GmbH was founded with the goal of bringing innovation to light measurement technology.
The early years were characterized by a pioneering spirit and in-house developments. The establishment of our own calibration laboratory and the series production of integrating spheres laid the technological foundation that continues to this day.
Even then, it became clear: innovation and sustainable growth arise where there is the courage to break new ground.
2006–2015: Growth and High-End Technology
The move to Türkenfeld in 2010 marked the beginning of a new chapter in the company's history. The new premises provided space for growth, increased R&D activities, and a continuous expansion of the customer base.
A technological highlight of this decade was the development of the high-end spectroradiometer BTS2048 Series, which set new industry standards. With this product line, Gigahertz-Optik strengthened its international competitive position and established itself as a leading global provider of precise light measurement systems.
2016–2025: A New Era
The past few years have demonstrated Gigahertz-Optik’s flexibility and future-oriented approach to addressing emerging challenges.
With systems such as the SphereSpectro 150H and the DCP measurement system, the forward-looking integration into the Berghof Group in 2020 and its framework conditions, as well as digital innovations such as the LIGHTmetric ONE system, the strategic focus has been clearly aligned with future-oriented topics:
- Digitalization
- Sustainability
- Climate Research
- Precise Measurement Technology for Global Challenges
Innovation for Tomorrow
What began in 1985 with a vision is today an internationally recognized technology company with a clear future strategy.
Our commitment remains unchanged: highest precision, innovative solutions, and technological excellence for the light measurement technology of tomorrow.
We thank our employees, partners, and customers for 40 years of trust and collaboration – and look forward to many more successful years.
