Modular integrating sphere concept

The modular integrating sphere concept from Gigahertz-Optik offers a high flexibility level when it comes to individual configuration of integrating spheres. In addition to the various components such as port frames, baffles and sockets that can be directly mounted onto the integrating sphere, port adapters with different functions are also offered.

Port baffles

Port baffles are used to prevent direct illumination of a sphere port or the sample. They are hereby placed between two ports or between a port and the sample.

Port baffles coated with barium sulfate

The baffles are made from thin sheets and coated with barium sulfate (ODP97). Different versions are available depending on the application field.

  • UMPB-SM for shadowing of two sphere ports
  • UMPB-PM used to shadow a sample and a sphere port
  • UMPB-TD used to shadow a sample from the sphere port and the port from another
  • UMPB-IL for shadowing of two opposite sphere ports

Port baffles with synthetic ODM98 coating

Flexibility in designing baffles with ODM98 has been limited due to the required material thickness. Gigahertz-Optik however strives to use ODM98 baffles in integrating spheres coated with ODM98. Different versions are available depending on the application field.

  • UMPB-ZB are designed as detector ports. They have UMPF port frames for mounting of detectors
  • UMPB-IL for shadowing of two opposite sphere ports
